Asia Argento, born in Rome to a family that includes actors and directors, was a professional in both fields. At nine years of age, Asia made her film debut alongside Sergio Citti in Sogni e bisogni. She played the leading role in Cristina Comencini's Zoo (1988) as well in Michele Soavi's 1989 film The Church. Later in the year, she was Nanni Moretti's daughter in Red Wood Pigeon (1989) (also directed by Moretti). Patrice Chereau directed her in Queen Margot, where she was a major character. In 1995 she worked with Michel Piccoli in Peter Del Monte's Traveling Companion , which again earned her a David di Donatello as well as the Grolla d'oro. Asia began directing short films in the year 1994. She made two: Prospettive, 1996, she directed a documentary about her father and then Abel/Asia, 1998, on the legendary director Abel Ferrara. This latter was awarded by the Rome Film Festival. In 1999 Asia began her film-directing career with Scarlet Diva (2000), where she acted as the main actress and writer for the script. The movie was released globally in the month of May. The film was honoured by the Williamsburg Festival in Brooklyn, New York. Anna Lou was born in 2001 following her directing several music videos. The actress starred alongside Jean-Marc Barre on The Red Siren, directed by Olivier Megaton. In 2003 she starred alongside Vin Diesel and Rob Cohen's action thriller. Asia is the author of numerous short stories that have been published in a variety of magazines.
