Asia Argento was raised in Rome by a filmmaker as well as an actor family. She pursued both professions herself. Aged nine she made her feature film debut in the role of Sergio Citti in Sogni e bisogni. In 1988, she portrayed the main role in Cristina Comencini's first motion picture Zoo (1988) in addition to in addition to being a part of Michele's casting for The Church (1989). In 1989 she portrayed Nanni Moretti's child for the film Red Wood Pigeon. (Also directed by Moretti). Close Friends (written and directed by Michele Placido) was when Asia's acting career really began to take off. Her roles went from being very young and then becoming mature. Cannes International Film Festival received the movie well. The film, Trauma (1993) the actress worked for the first time alongside her father, the renowned Italian filmmaker Dario Argento (her mother is one of his favorite actors, Daria Nicolodi, playing an overweight girl who is in search of her parents' murderer. The Phantom of the Opera is the third film she has acted in alongside her father, with the first two films being Trauma & The Stendhal Syndrome. Asia's dedication and passion for acting was also utilized for the part of Giuseppe Piccioni in Condannato a Nozze. Patrice Chereau directed her in Queen Margot in which she was the main character. In 1995, she collaborated with Michel Piccoli in Peter Del Monte's Traveling Companion , which again brought her a David di Donatello and an award called a Grolla oro. Asia started to direct short films around 1994. Two of them were made: Prospettive in 1996. She directed a document about her father, and Abel/Asia in 1998, about the legendary director Abel Ferrara. This latter was recognized at the Rome Film Festival. Asia made her debut as a feature director in Scarlet Diva (2000). In this film, she played the role of a lead actor and also wrote the screenplay. In May of 2000, the film was released both in Italy as well as around the world. The film was honoured at the Williamsburg Festival of Brooklyn, New York. Anna Lou, her first baby, was born to her in 2001. She has directed numerous music videos. She starred with Jean-Marc Barr as Jean-Marc Barr in The Red Siren, directed by Olivier Megaton. In 2003 she starred alongside Vin Diesel and Rob Cohen's action-packed thriller. Asia is also the creator of a number of stories that have been published in a variety of famous magazines.
